Dr. Wendy McFarlane
Visiting Researcher
Dr. Wendy McFarlane is a Visiting Researcher with the NYMRC, assisting in studies aimed at understanding the physiological nature of cold stunning in New York’s sea turtles, and post-release success of rehabilitated cold stuns via satellite tagging. She has nine years of experience studying nesting populations of sea turtles on the Caribbean island of Barbuda and helped establish the Barbuda Ecological Research Group in 2017. Dr. McFarlane received her B.Sc. in Marine Biology from the University of Guelph (Canada), and Ph.D. in Fish Physiology from McMaster University (Canada), and has 25 years of experience conducting laboratory and field studies on a variety of aquatic animals. Currently, she is an Associate Professor of Biology at Manhattanville College (Purchase, NY). In addition to teaching Marine Biology and numerous other ecology/physiology classes, she also conducts a diverse research program for undergraduates in her laboratory.
