Go Slow!
Go Slow, Sea Turtles Below is an educational campaign dedicated to spreading awareness of boat safety to reduce vessel strike interactions with sea turtles and marine mammals in New York. Go Slow events are held at local marinas across Long Island throughout the summer months, and provide boaters the opportunity to learn how they can help keep our marine life safe.
Strategies include: wear polarized sunglasses, appoint onboard spotters, avoid blooms of jellyfish, and stay a minimum of 150feet away from sea turtles and marine mammals at all times. If an interaction does occur, please call the New York Marine Stranding Hotline at (631)369-9829.
